Dear KKFS Parents,

Re: Child Protection

The Korean Education Ministry has mandated that every absence be verified if the absences go longer than 2 days as part of the follow up of the child protection policy.

As more and more cases of child abuse, including neglect are prevalent in the society, we, as a school, is obligated by the law to report any prolonged absences that have no medical verification.

<Attendance>
The Korean Education Ministry strongly mandated that

● Schools must notify the Education Ministry or the police if the child cannot be reached for prolonged periods without medical verification.
● Any prolonged family trips during the school days are not recommended as well.
● We strongly recommend that the family trips be taken during one of the school holidays rather than during the school days to avoid missing any academic learning.

<Pick up policy>

● Please follow the directions given by the maintenance crew during the pick up and drop off time to avoid the congestion in the parking lot area as well as to protect our students.
● Please be advised parents should wait the students from the outside of the school building. School is trying to refrain the visitors from coming into the building to Child’s Protection except Bathroom Use Only. As part of the child protection policy followed by all international schools, we have separate bathroom policies for the students and adults. Students can only use the bathrooms above the ground level while adults can only use the bathrooms in the basement.
● If your child is being picked up after school, please be advised that you need to pick up your child by 2:40 pm sharply so that your child is not left unattended.
● If your child takes after school activities from September, it is also imperative that you pick up your child at 3:30 pm sharply so that your child is not left unsupervised.
● If your child has a different situation of pick-up rather than the daily plan, please inform the school office or Homeroom teacher by 1:00pm.
- When the student needs to use different school bus
- When the student is picked up by other parents or other adults

<Visitors Policy for Non-KKFS Community members>

● Please follow the school’s visitor’s policy:
○ Call the designated number to leave your number.(010-4979-7092)
○ Once your call has gone through, you will receive a text message, giving you the permission to enter the building.
○ Show the message to the maintenance staff and get the visitor tag.
○ Please wear the visitor tag throughout your stay in our school building.
○ Return the visitor tag when you leave the building.

● Make sure to make an appointment with the school office so that everyone knows to expect your visit.

Sincerely,
Hye Jin Kim
School Principal
